Mural Studio
The mural studio was in the old Firehouse on Perley’s Lane and Second Street in downtown Hallowell. A great space, but Jen and I needed to build a temporary wall inside the large room to act as a mural easel.
This space on the second floor became my second studio for much of the next four years.

Building the Easel
Here are Jen and me on the day we built the “temporary” wall easel to hold the mural canvas. “Temporary” ended up being over 4 years, with a lot of work and quite a few interuptions, including that major interuptor of COVID. But in 2023 the mural was finished and the easel dismantled.

priming the canvas
Jen Cart, the artist’s wife, helping double prime the canvas. The “canvas” is actually a fabric called Polytab, a non woven synthetic fabric. It is double primed on both sides.
